Nurk vs Nurki

Here is Zach losing his hat in the snowball battle. He was pretty set on staying behind the melted snow fort they built prior to the battle.

Dad takes a moment to teach the fine art of snowball making.

"Look Mom! I am flying!"

Happy to get a snowball over the wall and hitting his target...Dad.

Dad strikes back. Notice his form....
The snow was great here. We were able to get over to the new hill across the street and then over to a new sledding spot that someone tipped us off on. Zach and Katie could of stayed much longer but the no naps we are taking with the Zman ended our fun at about an hour into the sledding. Then it was back home for some more fort building and trying not to play in Meg's pee. :) But this always offers a very valuable life lesson for the Nurki. Yellow snow is bad.
Stay warm and make the best of what is around you.

Dolphin Swim Party is a Blast!

Katie's Party was fun!
Here is Katie with her buddies the Petersen triplets plus Mary T.

Blowing out all 7 of those candles with Connor and Alli at her side. Connor is her buddie from preschool days and Alli has been in her class for the last two years.

Katelyn and Katie posing at the pool. Katelyn is our buddie from the neighborhood and we have been fortunate to play soccer against her many times. These two have a good time! We also Katelyn in the same class the last two years. Yeah!

Katie's best friends Sophie and Katelyn.
It was snowing just a bit outside as we swam in the warm pool. Nice change and a great day!

Seven is Swell

Happy Birthday to Katie! We had a ton of snow (that is Indiana terms. I think we had only 4 inches) and a big promise to Katie she could do Amore Pizza after school. So, Katelyn Wasson, Zach, Katie, my 9 fingers and I made it through the after-school traffic confusion to get that cake and pizza. Played games and ate well, Katie had a fun time and topped it off with a sugar-induced conversation to Grandma in Ohio. Loved her new manicure/pedicure kit and even tried it out on her little brother. He likes his sparkly toes. Jeff was shaking his head pretty ruefully at the whole situation but that is what little brothers and too much chocolate cake are for! Good times!

Next up: Dolphin Party at the indoor pool in Carmel. Birthplace of Zach. :)

Fire and Kim Don't Mix

Hmmmmmmmm. Would you believe it if I told you? Yes, I am my mother's daughter. Have had two incidents with fire in the last 72 hours just to proove it:

Fire #1---- Stovetop fire. The whole thing lit up like a bonfire. Just needed some marshmallows. Cute thing is Katie runs outside in her jammies and no socks to our front stoop as I yell, "FIRE!". Left eggs boiling and forgot about them. Took a shower and came back to nasty smell and then flames. Plastic piece in back fell over and caught fire. Alarm went off. Zach did not know that towels could put fire out. Jeff was pretty much laughing at me so the scotch did not wear off from the night before. We were lucky. (For the scotch not wearing off)Burned my cabinet a bit and luckily I was lazy and left pans on the stovetop so it saved the gas line and my stove.

Fire #2----Trying to make snowman puppets for kid in Kate's class. Glue gun for buttons. glue gun left on too long making glue searing hot. Glue drips on my pants, I go to move it off and it drips on my index finger. Put it in water and the top layer of my skin peels off. Go to Nurse office she advises me to go see doctor. Need it covered foe the next 14 days. Hurts like a mo fo.

So posts will be few. Took me about 30 min to type this.
But on the good side, no migrane this month so far. Went off pill and this is what happens. Ha ha ha ha!

All is good though. Could be a whole lot worse.

Now I have to go set up for meeting on Wed. Good Ol Jen is gonna help me lift and move stuff. You gotta love family! Yeah!

Back to School

Okay. I finally got back on the computer. Seems my husband has no idea that work is back in the swing of things as the Holidays are over. Well, there is ice on the road so might as well stay home.

Here is a quick cap on what we have been doing the past week:

Sunday - Visit with brother Bill and the gals. Kids had a great time with only a water bottle and a headband that was left behind. I will hold on to those for you at Spring Break.

Monday- Zach complains of stomach ache but I take him anyway to the Children's Museum with Katie. We enjoy the merry-go-round...all three of us FINALLY on it together. Played with the dinosaur stuff and then came home. Zach is bent over on the floor moaning so I take him to the doctor. He pukes all over her office. I figure I paid $86 bucks so I did not have to clean up the puke. Really good way to find out your kid has the stomach flu. He did not puke again which was also very awesome. The best part was nobody else in our house got the Stomach Flu. Yeah!

Tuesday - Lay low with Zach and Katie and learn to play Cake Mania on Katie's DS. I am getting ready to work for the pie lady I figure. Good training. Katie loses her 2nd tooth and the tooth fairy gives her a whole dollar!

Wednesday - New Years Eve! We leave the kids at Dave and Jen's. Grandma and Grandpa Ken are on hand to watch all three grandkids. First time ever! All kids were good I hear. We have a great evening with Dave and Jen at Patrick's and then over to Brick Street Inn to enjoy the fire. I made sure I parked at least 3 blocks away in the 10 degree weather so that fire was even more appreciated.

Thursday- Get a call at 8 am from Grandma Nurk. She is pukeing. Pretty sure she got it from ethier Zach or the cherry juice at the grubby Zville DQ. Hmmmmmmm. Made our Annual Hoppin John and some creamed spinach to bring in the New Year. Very southern tradition that I guess we hang on to since the Atlanta days.

Friday- I am still hungover I think. But we go out to Jeff's office so he can actually show up for a day. No...the kids see the office for the first time and we spend some time at the mall down there in the big city of Indy. Zach loves the Weber Grill and eats a ton of food for lunch. Loved watching that boy use the napkin between bites. Little Guy.

Weekend- Play with the kids, take down the decorations, and eat while we still can.

Now we are into the week. I am back to jazzercise the last two days and Jeffrey has been motoring on his bike trainer in the basement. Changed the diet for everyone in the house and we are trying to get rid of all these Christmas cookies and sweets that managed to sneak up on us this year.

Next week, Katie's birthday and party. We have girl scouts stuff to do. MOPS meeting is on Wednesday and gonna try to reorganize some things around here.

Take care and chow healthy for now!
